Our Year 9s learnt a tent-full of new skills during their circus-themed ‘Making Memories’ day.
Under the guidance of visiting troupe ‘Sensible Circus’ the children were taught how to juggle, use a diabolo, spin plates and master poi spinning. All of these skills require practice and it was wonderful seeing the children being disciplined and persevering. As well as laughing together and building friendships!
Back in the classroom, Year 9 tried their hand at balloon modelling as well as making their own juggling balls using rice and balloons. It was great seeing so many of our Year 9s stepping out of their comfort zones, trying new things and supporting one another throughout the day. A huge well done to all involved for making it such a fun and memorable experience.
This year we’ve also taken time to honour unsung heroes in our own lives. Mr Kahin, one of our Maths teachers, shared in assemblies about the people in his life who have had a meaningful impact on him, such as youth workers and community sports leaders. He gave the pupils time to reflect on local Black trailblazers and everyday heroes who are shaping their own lives.
Tomorrow afternoon we are excited to hold our special Black History Month celebration. During lunch pupils will enjoy steel band music alongside a delicious menu of jerk chicken, jollof rice and plantain. We are also pleased to be joined by two Saracens players, Seva Kava and Tayo Adegbemile, who will spend time with our poetry competition winners over lunch. In the afternoon, pupils will work in their Learning Groups to design posters honouring their House’s local BHM champions, which will then be combined into a collaborative House artwork.
Taking pupils ice skating at ‘Ally Pally’ can be a nerve-wracking experience but the Year 10s this year were fantastic. It was great to see people conqueirng their fears and progressing from clinging to the sides for dear life to stepping out onto the ice unassisted.
Well done Year 10, you made Miss Nelson, Miss Vodden and all of your learning coaches very proud indeed.

Last Thursday, Year 11 had our first Making Memories day where the army came into school and planned loads of different activities for us.
The day was split into three different parts. One of the best things was that we actually got to choose who we wanted to be in our groups this year. For the first two periods, we did different activities with the army that made us think outside the box and use our minds. One of the most popular puzzles was to get from one point to another using only 3 planks. We also had to work together as a team which was actually really fun because we got to see how well we worked together.
After that, we had our normal break and then we did table tennis with a a pro Paralympic table tennis player. It was really cool getting to play with someone who actually does it professionally and seeing how good he was. We had a competition between our groups and the winners got extra house points, which definitely made people want to win. But honestly, if you really think about it we are all winners because everyone got involved and had a splendid time. In the last 15 minutes we played some mini games, everybody wanted to grasp onto their honour beause it was THAT serious!
After lunch, we went to the astro and did more activities that tested our athletic abilities. We had to work together and push ourselves, and some of the activities were harder than they looked. For example, there was one with cones and evrybody had to stand at a cone and recieve the ball from the person in front of them. HOWEVER, there were certain conditions you had to match. One perosn had to catch the ball with a leg, and one had to catch it with one hand, etc.
Overall, it was a really lovely day and it was nice being able to spend time with our friends outside of normal lessons. We got to see how we were as a team, try things we don’t normally do and just have fun together. I think everyone really enjoyed the day and it’s definitely something we’ll remember from Year 11. Thank you so much for organising such a productive day!
Mark the date Saturday 5th December in your diaries!
On that day, Saracens Men will take on last year’s Premiership Rugby winners, Northampton Saints, in what promises to be a clash of the titans. Saracens Education will be ‘taking over’ the matchday at StoneX Stadium, with children from Saracens High School, as well as our little brother and sister schools, being invovled in various ways on the day from flag waving to work experience.
It will be a family-friendly occasion and an important opportunity to maintain our special relationship with Saracens Rugby Club and their fans who support our schools in many valuable ways.
Information will follow about free and/or discounted tickets but for now: Save the date!

The Making Memories trip to Ninja Warrior was an exciting and refreshing experience that allowed us to enjoy the day with our friends.
The journey on the coach was fast and efficient as there was no traffic that allowed us to not waste time getting to the site. The inflatable obstacle course was very fun and satisfying to be jumping around in with our friends, and allowed us to attempt an activity that we wouldn’t normally dare to do. Furthermore, the Ninja Warrior course was very challenging and allowed us to persevere through the course as we faced very hard obstacles to reach the end.

Year 13 attended making memories at Roller Nation which is a roller skating arena. I really enjoyed the whole day, starting with going to Colindale station with Rimla and playing imposter even with Mr Hunt!
When we all got to the location, at first I personally was scared that I would fall because it was my first time skating – as well as everybody else’s. Regardless, I gave it a try and it was such an amazing experience. Minus the fact that the next day everybody was sore from falling over! In my opinion, Roller Nation is in the top 3 Saracens High Making Memories trips with Flip Out and Go Ape.
The workers at the skating arena were so nice, helping everyone learn how to skate properly and teaching us tricks. Personally, I think this was the most unified year 13 has ever been, with everyone helping each other out. If I could go back in time and choose any Making Memories to relive, it would be Roller Nation every single time!
