Music
The goal of the Music department at Saracens High School is to broaden students’ musical horizons. We aim to give the students the skills and knowledge they need to discover new styles and pursue the musical activities of their choosing. To achieve this aim, students will during lessons have opportunities to perform, compose and sing. A broad work of great composers and artists from Bach to Santan Dave will be studied.
In order to meet this goal the school values of Discipline, Hard Work, Honesty and Humility will be the roots and culture in the lessons.
By the end of KS3 we aim to have all our students meet 5 criteria:
1)Be able to read Notation and rhythmic notation.
2)Be able to learn a song/music on a chosen instrument.
3)Recognise and keep a pulse.
4)Use technology appropriately to enhance their music.
5)Be able to play and keep a part in a small or large group

Enrichment opportunities
The music room is open whenever a teacher is available to supervise (break and lunch times). This provides an opportunity for pupils to learn new instruments and new music not necessarily covered during the lessons.
Peripatetic lessons are being offered for Piano, flute and violin lessons for pupils wishing to learn an instrument. This embeds independence and self-discipline.
