The Talent Foundry
This week, some of our Year 8 pupils took part in an employability workshop delivered by The Talent Foundry. The session focused on developing the eight essential skills from the skills builder framework: listening, speaking, problem solving, creativity, staying positive, aiming high, leadership and teamwork.
The children put these skills into practice through a range of hands-on tasks, including drafting professional replies to angry customers – a real test of communication and staying calm under pressure!
They also had the opportunity to hear from a representative of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), who shared their career journey and answered questions about working in the profession.
To finish, pupils reflected on where they currently are with each of the essential skills, helping them identify their strengths and set goals for the areas they’d like to develop further.
Well done to everyone in 8 Wilberforce and 8 Trenchard for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the session!
