Bank of England
Our sixth form economists enjoyed a trip to The City, the central business district in London.
The excursion began with a visit to Guildhall, a grade I listed building and the centre of government in the Square Mile. We saw two enormous models of London that showed every current and proposed building. We learned about the development of London and how the City of London became the centre of financial services.
In the afternoon, we visited the Bank of England museum, where we learned about the Gold Standard. We were privileged to hear a presentation from a Bank of England economist on the role of the bank and on monetary policy.
This was an inspiring visit for our A Level economists and we look forward to some of them establishing careers in the City in the future.
