King’s College Science Taster Day
King’s College is a Russell Group university on the Strand in London. Some of our Year 10 pupils were fortunate to attend a fascinating taster day at the university on the subject of ‘dark matter’.
The day began with a lecture about ‘dark matter mysteries’ delivered by Dr Doddy Marsh. Another lecturer, Dr Jim Dobson, then engaged our pupils’ minds in ‘detecting the invisible’. Pupils also enjoyed a tour of the campus and a Q&A session.
Visiting a leading institution and experiencing university-style teaching, is a wonderful experience for our pupils and one that will inspire them to keep working hard and to be ambitious for their own university applications in the future.
