Wheelchair Rugby
Many pupils were given a hand-on, full-throttle introduction to wheelchair rugby when Saracens Wheelchair Rugby Club came and spent the day with us.
Pupils used wheelchairs and were taught manoeuvering, passing and the rules of the sport. In their Design and Technology lessons they also considered the design of chairs for sports.
We were able to share some sessions with pupils from The Courtyard School, Islington, who played together with our Pre-Apprenticeship sixth formers. Together we had the opportunity to celebrate our strengths and learn from each other’s experiences.
It was appropriate that we ran these sessions during December when we spend the month celebrating Other Abilities (rather than disabilities).
