Film Industry

The futures programme we run at Saracens High School is extensive, introducing pupils to careers in law, finance, healthcare, business…and film!

Last week our Year 9 pupil were given the enormous privilege of listening to a presentation by the founder and chairman of a media company whose work includes the Harry Potter films, Paddington, Spiderman and other global blockbusters. Sir William Sargent shared a fascinating presentation with our young people about the work of Framestore and the many and varied careers in the creative industries.

The pupils listened attentively to the presentation, that often included visually stunning clips, and asked insightful questions during a Q&A. Sir William shared stories from his career and lessons he’s learnt. Such as the value of curiosity because ‘interesting people are interested’ and the importance of recognising that others possess skills we don’t have, and therefore the value of meaningful teamwork.

We’re grateful to Sir William for spending time with us, including going on a guided tour of our school with some of our pupils. His visit came about thanks to our ongoing participation in Future For All’s Intotech programme.

We look forward to many more careers presentations as fascinating as this one throughout the year, as the children have their horizons expanded and are inspired to keep working hard to achieve the futures they dream of.
