Reading with Rugby Players
In partnership with ‘The Boys Reading Project,’ 16 of the men’s rugby players will come to school after their ‘Captain’s Run’ (the final training session before a match) and before their first PREM home match of the season. They’re coming on this occassion, and 2 additional days this term, to do paired reading with some of our pupils. The players will discuss with the boys their favourite books and support them with reading all in the hope of instilling a love of reading.
‘The Boys Reading Project’ reframes reading as growth, strength, and ambition rather than instruction. In one of the schools that ran ‘The Boys Reading Project,’ English A Level uptake among boys rose from 0% to 50%!
Our library is well stocked with books to suit all readers. Our knowledgable librarian is in the library every break and lunchtime and would love nothing more than to guide your child towards books that they can check out and enjoy at home.
