International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day this year provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to honour the achievements of women and learn about the ongoing journey toward gender equality.
The pupils explored the history of the day, discovering its origins in the labour movements of the early 20th century. They also had the privilege of hearing from two inspirational guest speakers: Asvini Patel, a technology consultant, and Sohini Patel, a medical doctor. By listening to their experiences, pupils considered the obstacles these women faced and how they overcame them to succeed in their respective fields.
To conclude the day, pupils discussed how they can promote equality within our school community. We encourage you to ask your children about the women who inspire them – for many of them it’s members of their own families.
