Ice Skating
Year 11 travelled by tube into central London for our first Making Memories trip of the year. Our venue of choice was Queens Skating in Bayswater: London’s oldest skating rink. We collected our skates in the boot room and nervously took to the ice…
Within a few minutes we found our balance – and bravery – and managed to make it round the rink with only the occasional fall on the ice. But: “it’s not how many times you fall, it’s all about getting back up”. So we decided to “feel the fear excitement and do it anyway!” This will stand us in good stead for our upcoming mock exams in December.
Some of us managed to zoom round looking cool, calm and confident, others clung to the edge for dear life! The staff at the ice rink said we were the best school group they’ve had, showing that we really do live the Saracens values and act as brilliant ambassadors for our school:
“Your school was one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of hosting. The students were well behaved and disciplined, and the teachers were thoroughly organised. I was particularly impressed by the respect the children showed to their teaching team.”
After the physical and mental challenges of the ice rink, we walked over to Kensington Gardens to enjoy a well-deserved packed lunch in the park, playing football, climbing trees and enjoying the fresh air before catching the tube back to Colindale.
Year 10 had a similarly amazing experience when they also went ice skating, albeit to a different venue. The trip was filled with laughter, teamwork, and fun. Everyone enjoyed gliding around the rink, helping each other learn new skills and sharing plenty of unforgettable moments. It was a great opportunity to relax, bond with friends, and make lasting memories outside of the classroom.
