Science Week
- An assembly regarding ‘Time’ was delivered to all pupils in Years 7-11 by members of the science department.
- Y12 Chemists visited a laboratory at London Metropolitan University
- We hatched rare-breed species of chickens at school and followed their development over the first few weeks of their lives. The chickens have now returned back to the farm to continue the vital work in conserving the rare species.
- Dr Wilson delivered a talk about his fascinating work on infrared cameras to track the changes in the temperature of the Earth. We heard about his travels to the Arctic and how the equipment he developed was launched into space and is now in orbit around the Earth.
- Every pupil in Year 7-10 planned, carried out and analysed an experiment involving time. Year 7 and 8 focussed on reaction time, Year 9 and 10 focussed on rates of chemical reaction.
- The National Space Academy delivered workshops on asteroids to single science pupils in Years 10 and 11.
We hope many of our pupils and students have been inspired to pursue future careers in science, engineering, maths or technology.
