A Level Spanish
By Erik, Year 12
On March 11th, A Level Spanish students attended a study day on Trauma and Memory: Filming the Legacy of Dictatorships in Spain and Chile, exploring how contemporary films depict the Franco and Pinochet regimes.
The day began with a screening of The Silence of Others, a powerful documentary about the lasting impact of Francoist repression and how victims are still fighting for justice in Spain.
In the afternoon, we analysed key film clips to do with Francoism and Pinochetism.
A highlight of the trip was the exclusive Q&A we had with the producers from the documentary, which offered us a unique insight as to why the documentary was produced.
