UKMT Maths Challenges
On 2 February, 113 pupils in Years 9, 10, and 11 sat the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a charity that was founded in 1996 and their charitable aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics. Each year the UKMT hosts several maths competitions that encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
Only the most able pupils tend to enter the challenge and the top 50% of all entrants across the country can end up achieving a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. This year 40 Saracens pupils earned awards at these levels which is a fabulous achievement. All participants should be proud of themselves for taking on such a challenge!
Four of these pupils achieved so impressively on the Intermediate Maths Challenge that they were invited to participate in a further maths challenge called the Pink Kangaroo Challenge on 17 March and we are eagerly awaiting their results!
We are very excited for the upcoming UKMT Junior Maths Challenge for our Year 7 and 8 pupils coming at the end of April!
