School Library

It has been another busy year in the Saracens High School library with over 1200 books borrowed and the majority returned – please make sure to bring any library books still at home back to school tomorrow; the library will be open at breaktime.

Years 7 and 8 took part in library lessons as part of their English curriculum this year, exploring the library collection and having the chance to discover different genres. Author Ashley Hickson-Lovence visited for World Book Day and he has continued running poetry workshops with a group of very talented poets in Year 9. Pupils from Year 7 and 8 represented the school beautifully in front of ten other Barnet schools at a Carnegie Prize shadowing event and were then invited to the award ceremony in central London.

We have added lots of new books to the library collection this year – many were recommendations from pupils. Library monitors have helped to add these to the library catalogue as well as helping with other tasks in the library.

The school library subscribes to various publications to help pupils stay informed and develop critical thinking and media literacy skills.
