Geography Fieldwork

Year 7 and 11 have both been out on Geography fieldwork trips this term.

Year 7 were out in our local community investigating urban issues and solutions. They have been recording tally charts, adjective checklists, and EQAs to find out what is going on in their local area.

Year 11 headed to Stratford to complete their GCSE Urban fieldwork. Whilst investigating the regeneration they spotted the Olympic rings, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and houses from the 1800s.

Girls’ Maths Conference at Oxford University

This January we took 12 Year 10/11 girls to Oxford University for the ‘It All Adds Up’ Maths Conference.

The conference provided engaging opportunities for Saracens students to interact with maths through practical activities. The sessions included Maths of Pandemic Strategies, the Mathematics of Origami, and Where Maths Can Take You.

These were presented by female students and women working in fields that use mathematics on a regular basis. There was also a problem solving session where students worked on some really challenging questions in small groups. It was very helpful to listen to a Q and A session from current Oxford University students.

What a brilliant day to showcase women in STEM fields at such a prestigious university!
