Message from the Principal
Our half-term has culminated in the wonderful celebrations of the winter fair and the fantastic production, The Wiz. Thank you to the Pupil Leadership Team, and all of our performers and backstage crew who have taken part in those events. Thank you also to the amazing staff who have facilitated them and the families who have supported their children.
We have other reasons to celebrate as our Year 13 students are turning their thoughts to their next phase in life. Some of our T Level students have impressed their work placement organisations so much that they are already offering degree apprenticeships on the completion of their courses, and two students have been offered the opportunity to complete some of their work placement in Dubai! Another of our T Level students has received an unconditional offer to study Computer Science at Birmingham.
University offers are also starting to flood in for A Level students, and these include:
- Law at Queen Mary’s, Bristol, Durham, and Cardiff universities
- History and Politics at Birmingham and Loughborough universities
- Civil Engineering at UCL
- Architecture with a year of study abroad at Cardiff University
- Computer Science with a year in industry at York University
- And we have three students interviewing for Medicine at Exeter, City, and Imperial universities
At the end of term we often have to say goodbye to colleagues. Miss Martins left us earlier in the term to give herself time to focus on her children. She is still contributing to the school in a small capacity from home. Mrs Khanam and Mr Bethlenfalvy both joined the school as Learning Support Assistants, and we are incredibly proud of their growth as they have become established teachers, but they are both now moving away from the area.
Finally, Miss Alexa is moving on. Having started with Saracens on our first day in 2018, she has molded the Grow and Thrive area, she has mentored and helped develop many LSAs into teachers, educational psychologists, Assistant Year Leads and other roles and, consequently, had a huge impact on our school and community. Through all of this, she has had a very long commute from East London, and has now decided it is time to move to a school nearer home. Miss Alexa will become the SENDCO of a school with 2000 pupils (!) in January and goes with our immense gratitude and best wishes.
With departures come arrivals. We welcome Mr Dannie, who is joining us as a second Vice Principal, and Miss Skinner, who will be our new SENDCO and is also an Assistant Principal. We are also welcoming Ms Sebastian, who will be our new Computer Science teacher, taking over from Mr Bethlenfalvy.
I am also delighted to inform you of some internal promotions that have been made. Mrs Nicols is taking on the role of Literacy Lead across the school, Miss Moorhouse is now our Assistant SENDCO, and Mr Nathwani is joining the Sixth Form leadership, in charge of T Levels.
I hope you have a safe and happy break over the Christmas period, and I wish you a Happy New Year.
