From the Principal
I hope you have had a positive half-term break. It is an exciting time for Saracens High School as we enter the final weeks before our first cohort of pupils will sit their summer exams, and many of those pupils will become our first Saracens Sixth Form students in September.
Also this half-term we have an intense period of recruitment, as we recruit new teachers to allow us to grow once more.
This half-term we are focusing on the value of discipline. This includes having excellent attendance, being in the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment and – for our old pupils – spending the right amount of time revising to prepare for the mocks (Year 10) or end of Key Stage exams (Year 11). Please can you speak to your child about how the value of discipline helps them to be the best student they can be and support us in this drive.
Please look out for communications about further teacher strikes, which are scheduled for March 2, 15, and 16. We will communicate the plans as soon as they are finalised, but you will already be aware that March 16 is an INSET day, so that will be unaffected for pupils.
Also look out for the lunch arrangements regarding Ramadan. If your child will be fasting during this period, please make sure that you respond to the request from the finance team so we can plan the lunches accordingly.
Thank you to families who now park near the back exit to pick up pupils. It is much safer there than on the dangerous bend at Corner Mead. I am pleased that the council have proposed to put in further road safety measures, including more barriers and a crossing, to make the area safer. We are also working with Barnet on developing a School Superzone around the school.
