Digital Footprint For Sixth Formers
Our sixth formers benefitted from a workshop about ‘Posting with Purpose’, with T Level lead and business and economics teacher, Mr Nathwani. The session focused on the growing importance of developing a positive and professional online presence.
Students were encouraged to reflect on their past social media activity and consider how their digital footprint can influence future job opportunities. With employers increasingly reviewing candidates’ online presence as part of the recruitment process, students explored how to ensure their online identity supports — rather than hinders — their future ambitions.
A key focus was the value of LinkedIn in building a professional profile early. Students learned how the experiences, responsibilities and skills they gain through school life — from leadership roles and extracurricular activities to volunteering and part-time work — are highly valued by employers alongside academic qualifications. Establishing and maintaining a strong LinkedIn profile now can help students stand out in competitive markets.
Student feedback afterwards highlighted the impact of the session:
- 81% found the session useful
- 71% are considering reviewing and refining their past social media posts based on the learnings from the session
- 68% do not currently have a LinkedIn profile
- 87% of students that don’t currently have a LinkedIn profile intend to create one in the future
The assembly reinforced that our students already have a wealth of skills and experiences from the vast range of opportunities that Saracens High School offers — and that learning to present these positively and professionally online is an important step in preparing them for future education and employment.
