It was so special celebrating our pupils’ different cultures on the last full day of term.
In period 6 the children created posters that celebrated the landmarks, languages, food and traditions of their cultures. The virtual runway during afternoon Learning Group was so much fun, as around 35 pupils showed off the cultural clothing they had worn to school that day.
After school we opened the gates to the local community to join us at our summer fair. Special thanks go to the PLT, YLT and prefects for their hard work in setting everything up for the fair.
At the fair we enjoyed food and a variety of stalls and activities including a bungee run and stocks (well done Ms Green, Mr Murray-Bruce, Mr Kahin and me Hawkes for being willing to receive a thorough soaking in the stocks!).
Over 250 raffle tickets were sold. We hope Mirwais in Year 8 will enjoy spending the Amazon voucher he won over the summer holidays.

This has been another exceptional year for Saracens High School and Saracens Multi-Academy Trust. We opened our Sixth Form in September with 120 students on our three distinctive pathways and this September we will have all seven year groups (Years 7-13) for the first time.
We expect to have around 1150 young people and, to help make room for them, we will have a temporary extension built over the summer. This was something that we knew we would need since 2018 and it is why the school was planned as it was, with space for two extensions between the main building and the sports hall (unfortunately the DfE wouldn’t give it to us when they built the school).
There have been many notable achievements this year. We welcomed a new group of Year 7s, as well as 30 external applicants to Year 12, all of whom learnt about the values and how to live them. We helped prepare our Year 11s and some of the Year 12s for their public exams, and some of our pre-apprenticeship students have started their new apprenticeships already.
Away from the academic rigour, we have had great success with our cultural capital and personal development, including our Together We Create Arts week, visits to the theatre, cinema and museums, as well as some of the more challenging activities including paddle-boarding, Go Ape, and gliding, along with Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver awards.
We have extended our work in the community, working with external groups and developing our parent offers: We hosted two courses teaching families the Jamie Oliver approach to healthy and economical cooking; we have hosted talks on the challenges of parenting; and we have had more groups using the building out of school hours. We will expand our parenting workshops in the new academic year, and I will be in touch with you in September to find out what you would like included in those, so please give it some thought over the summer.
Our Futures Programme has expanded again with more visits, speakers, workshops, work placements, and university visits than ever before, including the annual My Future, My Choice event with 74 inspiring visitors telling the pupils about their jobs. These partnerships are so important, because we all know it takes a village to raise a child, and an isolated family or school cannot do it alone – we must work together.
Our relationship with Saracens is thriving, and although both the men’s and women’s teams bowed out of the Premiership playoffs at the semi-final stage this year, the women won the Allianz Cup, in what proved to be Ms Green’s last game. After 22 years as a Saracens player, she is finally retiring from competitive rugby.
At the end of the year we always have to say goodbye to colleagues who are moving on. Leaving Saracens this year is Mrs Levy who has been on maternity leave and, after six years at Saracens, is moving to a part-time position in a school closer to home.
Mr Rudd, Mrs Fernandez, Miss Boxall, and Miss Anjali have all spent five years at Saracens. Mr Rudd is leaving behind his 70 mile-a-day round trip to join a school closer to home. Miss Anjali is taking on a team of colleagues in a large school library. Mrs Fernandez and Miss Boxall are both taking a break from teaching (I hope not for long because they are too good to not be teachers).
Miss Wilson, our Assistant SENDCO who has been with us for four years, is moving to the same school as Mrs Levy, in a teaching position. Miss Hasna is leaving us after just over two years to study for a PhD full-time. Miss Rahmani, Miss Khalil, Mrs Brown, and Dr Welderufal are also leaving us to take up positions in other schools. We thank all of them for their contribution to the school and wish them well. We are very fortunate to have such a talented and committed group of staff, and I am honoured to work with them.
Finally, we are on the threshold of a new phase for Saracens Multi-Academy Trust. From September, the High School will be full, Saracens Bell Lane will be part of the Trust, and we will soon start planning for the Saracens Primary School, which will open near Colindale Station in September 2026.
I am extremely grateful for the support you have given the school and your children throughout the year. I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer and look forward to seeing you in September.

It is not too late to book your child into activities over the summer holidays. Families who receive Free School Meals will be sent an e-voucher this week that they can use to book BACE activities (Barnet Active Creative Engaging Holidays). Click here for a list of activities in our local area.
Active Educational Trust are also offering free activities and meals at North London Grammar School, 29th July – 9 August.
Each year the whole school engages in our My Future, My Choice careers day and this year’s was even bigger and better than last year’s!
We’re so grateful to all of the visiting presenters who came to share their career journeys with Years 7-12. Many of our presenters are trustees, governors, friends and parents and we’re enormously grateful for the time they give us to inspire the children on this day. Other presenters come from companies we have built a relationship with.
The children interacted with sessions from a huge breadth of sectors, from law and finance to the creative industries and animal conservation!
Our pupils were introduced to careers they may not have known existed and inspired to work hard to pursue their career goals. We count that an enormous success and are already looking forward to next year’s!

Sports Day is always a high point in the school calendar and this year was no exception.
On an exceptionally sunny day in July, the impressive StoneX Stadium played host to our team sports and athletics.
House points were up for grabs as teams played one another in football, netball, tag rugby and – new this year – volleyball.
There was excellent sportsmanship on display, among competitors as well as those cheering on their classmates.
Sports Day falling within International Week is to be thanked for the exceptional Mexican band who played for us while we ate the lunch provided by our talented catering team.
A special thanks to the sixth formers who were so helfpul on the day in making sure everyone stayed hydrated as well as those who ran final laps alongside younger pupils.
A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and there are some real athletes among our pupil body who we’ll be keeping an eye out for in future Olympic Games!

This year, our EAL (English as an Additional Language) pupils celebrated the end of the school year with an exciting trip to the Parliament Hill lido.
The day was filled with sun, fun and laughter as pupils enjoyed swimming, playing games, and bonding with their peers and teachers. The staff supporting the visit were Miss Edwards, Miss Vodden, Miss Moorhouse, Mr Shariff and Miss Gruszka.
This rewarding trip was not only a well-deserved break after months of hard work, discipline and dedication but also a fantastic opportunity for the children to practice their English in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. The memories made at the lido will undoubtedly be cherished by all, marking a perfect end to a successful school year.

Sixth Form students attended a second industry insight day at BT’s head offices in central London.
Our students joined young people from other schools in a day of professional skills development where they were tasked with designing a new piece of smart technology.
Working in teams, and mentored by a BT employee, students first learnt about BT’s range of services and the careers on offer before working in small groups to answer the brief.
Students were also given the opportunity to meet current employees to discuss career paths and look around the office facilities.
We look forward to seeing if any of our alumni will become employees of BT or of other companies and organisations the students have spent time with on our Futures Programme.

Sixth Form students were warmly welcomed by Equifax, the credit score company, when they attended a two day workshop at the company in central London.
Students were shown the importance of personal finance, credit scores and lending before embracing the opportunity to network with current employees.
Sessions were run by marketing, HR and investment teams, giving students advice on presenting skills, interview technique and marketing. All this culminated in a professional challenge in which students needed to present their ideas on designing a new credit score app and take part in a mock interview.
As a school we are passionate about seeking out experiences like these in order to give our students the edge in a competitive jobs market.
