A Level Geography Fieldwork
Year 12 ventured out to Epping Forest on a cold, sunny (and muddy!) day for a water and carbon cycle fieldwork day.
In the morning the students carried out experiments in the forest, looking at rates of infiltration, surface runoff and interception. The afternoon was spent looking at the carbon cycle. The geographers measured the height and circumference of trees so that they could calculate the carbon stored and then value of the trees. We calculated that the whole of Epping Forest has a value of £389,406,600!
