Women In Science

Twenty of our Year 10s had the fantastic opportunity of attending a “Women in Science” event at the RAF museum that’s just a short walk from school. The day was a brilliant exploration of the vital contributions women have made, and continue to make, to the scientific field.

We attended an inspiring lecture from two pilots, who shared their fascinating first-hand experiences of aviation and engineering. Following this, the group took part in a debate workshop, sharpening their public speaking skills whilst discussing modern scientific challenges.

The day concluded with an exploration of the museum’s exhibitions and various career stands, giving our pupils a real insight into the diverse pathways available in STEM. It was wonderful to see our Year 10s engaging so enthusiastically with the exhibits and professionals. Hopefully, this experience has inspired some of them to become the scientific pioneers of tomorrow!
