Summer School 2022
We invited all of our year 7 September 2022 cohort to attend our Summer School at Saracens High School and StoneX stadium. An average of 90-100 students attended every day, from a cohort of 180.
The theme of the week was the Commonwealth Games with the children being grouped together in colours based on the Commonwealth flags.
Activities included an Opening Assembly, English, Maths, Languages, Geography, Drama, Science and PE. All activities related to the Commonwealth Games and their history.
We also had our own Commonwealth Games at StoneX stadium with athletics, rounders and tag rugby competitions. Nadia Williams, Commonwealth bronze medallist for Triple Jump, came and presented the medals.
We ensured that the timings mirrored the school day to help smooth the transition for the children starting at Saracens High in September.
We prepared children for Family Lunch, having a hot meal each day and modelling the roles that would be required in September.
We fostered and instilled the Saracens’ values of discipline, hard work, honesty and humility in all activities and pupils were acknowledged and rewarded when they modelled these values.
In the Final Assembly children shared the poems they’d written during the week and certificates and medals were awarded.
Children completed an evaluation of the week where they identified how as a Learning Group they had modelled the school values and shared that they felt more confident in attending Saracens High School in September. Parental feedback was extremely positive stating that 100% of participants enjoyed the Summer School experience.
