Congratulations to Brett in Year 10 for passing his latest drumming exam with distinction. Over 220 guests from our community joined us for our Iftar at the end of the spring term. Now in its second year, our Iftar has become a highlight in the school calendar. Year 10 Geography pupils are visiting the beach at Walton-on-the-Naze this half term to carry out a coastal study. While on the Essex coast pupils will be: measuring beach profiles with clinometers and ranging poles; measuring groyne heights to see the impact of longshore drift; comparing the protected and unprotected beaches; and assessing the effectiveness of the coastal management techniques. …

Year 7 Complete National Challenge

On the final day of April the whole school was off timetable for one of our Making Memories days. These are opportunities for relationship building, out-of-classroom learning and gaining experiences the children may not otherwise enjoy. For Making Memories, the Year 8 pupils were taken on an exciting trip to the beach at Walton-on-the-Naze. Immediately on arriving, everyone enjoyed an ice-cream and sat together to admire the beauty of the beach. For Making Memories, the entire Year 12 cohort were taken on an energising trip to Flip Out in Canary Wharf. Activities there included roller skating, soft play, bumper cars, laser-tag, and many more that greatly excited the students. The Year 10s had a fantastic day of bouldering at Arch North climbing centre. Pupils scaled various types of boulders including slabs and verts. Some pupils impressed further with their athleticism in conquering overhanging boulders. Local gardening charity GROW are running a food growing and gardening club on the concourse after school each Friday. The club runs from 3.10 to 4.20pm and is completely free. Pupils in the year 9 Drama GCSE class performed Orchestra by Charlie Josephine at the Arts Depot on 25th April as part of the National Theatre Connections Festival 2024.
